The mission and message
Matt Formston’s message is that with persistence, training and managing risk, people with disabilities can achieve their goals. Matt’s aim is to teach other vision impaired Australians that the water does not discriminate. It is here that he feels inspired, not judged and most free. The Blind Sea will follow Matt’s journey as he sets his goal to be one of the first blind people to surf Big Waves.
This will be Brick Studios first feature film. Brick Studios mission and reason for being is to produce stories that inspire, excite and engage our audiences and our community.
The need and impact
Australia has been successful in recent years with openness to accessibility, diversity and disability. Now is the right time to produce more stories and content and continue the momentum.
This film will show the positive effect of setting big goals, getting curious and achieving big things.
The film will create employment for screen professionals and the possibility for
additional role for people with a disabilityProduction within NSW will return investment back into the community, predominantly tourism, hospitality and sports sectors.

Fundraising Acheivements
EMPLOYMENT : Engaged a disability employment recruitment service to fulfil a 12week contract role, for a production assistant with a disability to assist Brick Studios behind the scenes and on set .
PRODUCTION : Employed experienced production crew from South West Sydney and surrounds.
COMMUNITY: Added additional scenes to interview medical specialists across the disability sector
ACCESSIBILITY : Working with Vision Australia, the completed film project will include an audio description track and closed captions.
Current Targets
AUDIO ENHANCEMENT: Enhance the sound design to ensure a detailed sensory experience for those who rely on audio cues for best communication.
SCORE & MUSIC: Engage independent Australian musicians to score the film and raise funds for music licensing fees.
EDUCATION : Develop a study guide to accompany the film, for training and education purposes, bringing the story and neccessary teaching aids into Australian Schools.
